Continually improving week on week, round four was no exception against Montrose. Playing In the wet and windy conditions the boys again improved with some great marks from Coby and Ollie. Asked before the game which AFL player they would like to play like most, we had a side of superstars with both Zac C and Zac M showing their running prowess. Sharing the ball and creating space was a key focus for the boys and to their credit they implemented this well with a standout link up out of the backline from Xav, Cody to Zac M. A great team effect,
Best: Coby, Tom and Jack.
Goals: Jack, Tom and Conner
Medal winner. Xav

Today we played Mooroolbark Gold at Quambee Reserve in wet and cold conditions. The boys had some great passages of play, sharing the ball, using their voices, being first to the ball and there were some great goal celebrations.
A big Happy Birthday to Riley and well done Darcy on getting the "magic" card in the footy card handout! Thank you to Mooroolbark for lending us players each quarter. Well-done boys. Well-done Tigers!
Best: Riley, Thomas, Declan, Billy, Haydn, Cooper and Darcy

In what was a horrid day of weather, we had 4 amazing games of football by our U9 Yellow team playing in their lightning premiership today.
All 4 games were beauties where the boys played well together as team to ensure all were won by 2 goals or more. Our opposition in every game played in great spirit. Over the four games all the kids had a real crack, and when the rain bucketed down it showed real character to run harder, play harder and have fun to come home with the flag for Mitcham Junior Football Club and themselves. We had match winners in every game, and goal scorers coming from every position. All players at different times of every game went above and beyond to make sure we got the win no matter what. We played against some strong teams and none more so then Knox Red in the last game. With both teams on 3 wins each both teams were going at it hard. The Tigers got the jump on them early, but Knox fought hard with some heavy body play in the first half to keep within 1 point at the main break. In the final half Knox threw everything at us, including their whole bench that saw them with 17 against our 14 players on the ground. This just made our team of tigers fight and run even harder to be first to the ball. Our players in the centre got the clearance at just above every ball up, giving our forwards great opportunity and keeping it away from their goals. In the second half two courageous marks in our backline ensured the win for our team by two points, and then a great mark was taken right on the siren, which ended in a goal which drove the last nail in.
Thanks to all the people that helped from both the Yellow and Black sides of our U9. It was a long and wet day for all and we could not do it without our great parents from both teams chipping in and helping our team manages and coaches make sure the boys were prepared and ready to play every game.
Thank you to all for jumping in whenever it was needed. Go Tigers!

Mitcham Black under 10 travelled to far away Narre Warren to face a speedy South Belgrave. In genuine winter conditions the boys started second to the ball and did not look switched on. Two first half goals to south Belgrave really put the pressure on. The boys lifted in the second half and with a long goal to Will in the third quarter the game was up for grabs. A goalless last quarter was fiercely contested. Great games from captain LeBron, Charlie and Jesse were not enough to get us over the line falling 5 points short. This was not our best effort but the signs are there and if the boys play their best footy we should match any opponent.

We ventured out to The Basin to take on the Bears. During the week we had discussed some team rules and set greater expectations of ourselves. Part of that was about taking ownership of our behavior and being more resilient. With Riley "Rizzle" Downes named skipper we had a great first quarter and kicked 2 goals through Heath and Mason, but it was our work around the stoppages that was the highlight. Our backline was holding up and created some great rebounding runs also. The Bears fought back in the second and third quarters, but we absolutely bossed the final term winning most of the contested balls. Jack was terrific all game, as was Ty with both players kicking goals in the final term. Will was fantastic at full back and Rizzle led by example all game. Caden personified our revised values and played a great stopping role in defense. We were most pleased with how the whole team contributed and displayed the resilience we had been talking about. Great effort boys.

Today we played Belgrave at Belgrave, it was cold and wet. We started the game slowly and allowed Belgrave to get off to a good start. Unfortunately for the Mitcham girls they were a polished side that have had a previous season to gain experience. There were some great passages of play resulted in a couple of goals for us. Our midfield was strong all game and our defence held firm against some tough opposition. A great for the team and something that we can build on from here. Well-done Tigers!

Today the Under 11’s played their fourth round match against Wantirna South Green at Walker Park. It was a tough and hard fought game, with the tigers getting the early ascendancy, with Will marking in the square to slot our first major. The second quarter saw Wantirna South fight back kicking their first goal whilst Aiden slotted one for the Tigers. The last half saw the Tigers kick 3 unanswered goals, with Cooper kicking his first goal for the season. We have a lot to take out of this game with our skills dropping and in need of improvement; it was a great team game from the boys, Well-done Tigers!
Goals: Aiden 2, Will 2, Cooper
Best: Lachie, Will, Aiden, Hamish and Hudson
Final Score: Mitcham 5.5.35 d Wantirna South Green 1.0.6

Our boys travelled up the rd. to Vermont to take on the Eagles who have been touching up a few teams in the first 3 rounds. Putting the opposition on the back foot with fierce tackling pressure in the 1st 10 minutes set us up. No frills hard footy with Vermont unsure picking up the footy was a good idea in fear of what to come.
Best: Liam, Xavier, James, Matty
Final Score: Mitcham 5.2.32 d Vermont 3.1.19
Under 12 Girls by Ruby Schneider (Coach)
Today we ventured to the one and only Coldstream. As the other team were short of players and the only thing the girls wanted to do was to play football they volunteered to play for Coldstream, so we had four players each quarter fill in for them, it was great to see the girls volunteer, but I think the girls seemed to enjoy the extra game time! Although we won by a fair margin the Coldstream girls really gave it their all and the scoreboard does not justify what a good game it actually was. Lauren was fearless with her running and tackling, Lucy O kicking 4 goals alongside some goal assists as well, Taya taking some strong marks and great kicks, Mathilda.A also having a ripper game! Well done to Matilda R kicking her first goal for the season as well as Lucy D & Hannah who also kicked goals for the day, well done! Big shoutout also to Phoebe our vice captain who kicked her first goal ever! A well deserved goal for a great team player and hard worker every single week. Would like to have a huge mention also to Milly who kicked her very first goal ever as well, It was a very exciting moment. She has improved out of sight. After Milly kicked her goal she was on point for the rest of the day, getting kicks and doing some great body work which resulted in a goal! However she did also fill in for the Coldstream team where she killed us! haha ... well played Milly we are very proud of you!!! A massive Thank You also to all 16 girls who filled in for the Coldstream team - very appreciative !!! Shows how much they really love their football. Go Tiges!!!
Final Score: Mitcham: 9.7.61 d Coldstream: 1.0.6

What a great way to celebrate the 7 boys 50 game milestone with a win. It’s been a pleasure coaching these boys over the years and it’s a very proud moment when I see them run out for a milestone game. Rather than going over todays game, todays report will be on our seven 50 game players. Nicko is generally one of the smallest players on the ground but over the years I have seen him kick some great goals. He always tries his hardest and has shown great improvement over the years. Denzell is one of those players that when he goes near the ball, your excitement levels lift. He has a lot of tricks in his bag and when he pulls some of them out, you’re in for a show. Dan N is Mr. Consistent. If he is not getting a lot of the ball, he is likely laying many tackles with his trademark run them down from behind. He is one of the best tacklers I've seen in junior footy. I love watching Luca play. He is fast and he will go in hard and is never intimidated by an opposition player. I enjoy watching him be courageous and never take a backwards step. Boothy is an absolute pleasure to coach. He listens at training. He is a team player and his marking and foot skills have improved over the years considerably. Jack is another player that is exciting to watch. He is fast, tough, and passionate and will be an exciting player to watch in years to come. His passion for the game comes out in his determination to try his hardest to win for the team. Sasha each year has improved immensely and I love seeing his skills improve in leaps and bounds. He is an exceptional runner and is providing us with a lot of drive across the wing and never fails to deliver. Well done to the seven boys today, but also well done to the other 15 who fought hard to ensure our win today for the 50 game players.
Goals: JP 3, Jack 1, Nathan 1.
Final Score: Mitcham 5 10 40 d Chirnside Park 2 3 15.

The under 14 girls played Norwood at Koonung Reserve and were looking forward to playing an opposition that also had one win on the board for the year.
The backline was put under pressure by Norwoods forwards for most of the game without a lot of success. Another win is just around the corner based on the display of the girls in this game. All the girls tried their best but unfortunately Norwood ran away with a victory.
Best: Olivia, Marissa, Megan, Maddy, Gemma and Daisy
Final score: Mitcham 2.1.13 to Norwood 8.12.60

Today we celebrated Jacks 100th game - well done Jack!! Although we didn’t get a positive result on the scoreboard, we showed signs of vast improvement. After the game, I was approached by the president of The Basin junior club. He stated that our boys should be proud of their efforts today and we didn’t go down without a fight. Best on ground today - Ryland! He certainly showed us that he can be a fierce competitor for the ball - well done!! Chin up lads!!

Today we took on Heathmont in what was to be a grand final replay. This game was one that we really wanted to show Heathmont that winning the GF was no fluke and to also show them we have gotten stronger since we last met. We knew they would come out hard, but as long as we played to our game plan we could run over them. Just as they did in the GF Heathmont jumped out of the blocks and scored early, which put us back a bit, but with the running power of our mids and the work rate of our small forwards we finally pegged them back. We went into the first break with a small lead and I asked the boys to step it up a gear and start taking control of the game. The boys answered the call and came out firing. Tim Ross led the charge with a couple of quick goals as well as Cam P chipping in a couple. We finally had a good grasp on the game and we moved the ball through the corridor so much cleaner than the first quarter. At the main break we spoke about cleaning up some of our areas around the ground that we weren’t controlling and I put it to the boys to lift in those areas, especially the one percenters. The third quarter was fantastic with good ball movement from the half back line and all the way across the centre and forward line. Spitta, TK and Stinger didn’t give Heathmont a chance to score and they set up our forwards at will. The game was all over by the third but the boys continued to pour pressure on the opposition winning convincingly in the end. Although it as a fantastic team effort, mentions go to Timmy Ross, Stinger, Spitta, Cam P, Jules and jimmy Nichol for outstanding contributions throughout the day.
Go Tiges !!!!!
Final Score: Mitcham 17.19.121 d Heathmont 2.3.15
