MITCHAM GIRLS PARTNER FOREST HILL COLLEGE

Mitcham Girls Football to partner with Forest Hill College!

In an exciting step forward for our Girls football program, the Mitcham Junior Football Club will enter into a partnership with the girls-only AFL Academy at Forest Hill College.

Forest Hill College, proudly supported by the Melbourne Football Club and TAC Cup team the Oakleigh Chargers, will establish a girls-only AFL academy in 2017. Girls from years 7-12 participating in the academy will complete their core subject classes like any other student, as well as giant access to 7 hours each week of lessons in AFL tactics, skills and strength and conditioning training. The coaching program will be overseen by former four-time All-Australian St Kilda player Nathan Burke and supported by Melbourne listed female players.

As part of the arrangement Forest Hill College will make available their AFL academy players to attend and assist with the many clinics and community events the Mitcham Junior Football Club is involved in. These range from school fete’s, the Whitehorse Festival, Lions Club Family Days and the many Auskick and junior clinics we run at a number of local schools.

Additionally, Forest Hills College will make available their strength and conditioning room, synthetic running track and playing oval for our Mitcham girls pre-season training. The College’s strength and conditioning coach will be available to design a training program for our female players and so that they can get the full benefit out of what for many will be their first complete pre-season.

We encourage you to go and see the facilities and get a better understanding of the Forest Hill College girls-only AFL Academy at the schools Open Day this Friday (9th September) from 1.30 – 3.30.

Stay tuned for some other exciting developments in the Mitcham Girls Football program which will be announced shortly.
