Although the EFL junior season doesn’t start for another seven days this weekend was a massive one for the Mitcham Junior Football Club. It started on Saturday with the annual Family Day and the fine weather saw a fantastic turnout by our junior families. Taking the entertainment up a notch this year our juniors enjoyed the footy challenge, bucking footy and the animal farm. The face painting was very popular and the cake stall sold some very impressive baked goods and in the process raised some much needed funds for our footy club. Prior to the first bounce the crowds were also organised by the talented dancers from Street Dance Studios organised by Tanya Stansfield. Our thanks to the key organiser Kirsty Grace and helpers in Yvette AjaniKathy BenisMichelle TreebyLisa Woolf and a special thank-you to all those who donated to the cake stall.

The big weekend continued with the Bunnings BBQ today which is always an important fundraiser. Stacie Timmins did a great job organising the roster which saw over 30 Mitcham families donating their time and working on the stall through the course of the day. A big thanks to Mark and Rebecca Linnett who organised most aspects of the BBQ and were present from start to finish. A special mention also to Paul Goldsmith who was there for a large portion of the day and as Treasurer managed the money over the weekend.

Finally, a number of teams played practice matches today in what is their final hit outs before the season begins and a big thanks to Leigh Walterswho has organised the proactive matches and coordinated the pre-season training program
