The Mitcham Junior Football Club is very pleased to announce Peter Ajani and Mark Butler as coaches of our two Under 9 teams for Season 2016.  Peter Ajani will add to the the great work he did at Under 8 level by continuing  on with the job with our Under 9 Mitcham Black team in 2016.   Peter did a traffic job in 2015, organizing the clubs Under 8 program from scratch and helping set up the two teams that we had.  Peter has been involved at Mitcham JFC for many years with his eldest son Ben (who played Under 15’s this year), moving through the club from Auskick.  Peter was team trainer / medic for three years with Ben’s team before taking on the coaching role with the Under 8’s last season.  Peter also worked with Craig Giles and the Auskick clinics at Walker Park on a Friday night and was nominated for Auskick coordinator of the year with the Eastern Coaches Association Awards.   Peter is a very good communicator with the kids and works extremely hard in trying to develop all the basic skills of our game and he knows how important encouragement is at this age.

Mark Butler will take on the coaching role with Under 9 Mitcham Yellow.  Mark was Assistant Coach to Josh McConnell in 2015 with our Under 8 Yellow team and wants to continue on with where things left off last season.  He will continue on with the philosophy that all players will have the chance to learn and improve their footy skills in a fun and encouraging environment.  Mark played junior football at primary school and went on to play for De La Salle Old Collegians from Under 12’s though to senior level.  After taking a few years off due to work commitments, he returned to coach the Under 18’s at the club and then played a year in their inaugural Super Rules teams until injury and family commitments forced him to hang up his boots again.  Mark is an Essendon supporter.  Both his parents grew up in Essendon and some of Mark’s favorite childhood memories are going to his Grandma’s house and walking up to Windy Hill with Timmy Watson’s number 32 on his back.  Mark will be an excellent Junior coach and we are very happy to have him on board the tiger train for 2016.
