The Mitcham Junior Football Club is pleased to announce Sandi Marini as coach of our Under 11 team for Season 2016.  Sandi has been involved with this group of boys for a couple of seasons as the match day runner and was assistant coach in 2015.  Sandi grew up in the Northern Suburbs and played footy for the West Lalor Dragons and school footy at St. Monica’s College where he was an on-baller.  Sandi was born into a family of Carlton supporters and the “blue blood” continues to pump though his veins.  It may have been tough being a Carlton supporter for the past 15 years but he saw plenty of success prior to then of course.  This will be Sandi’s first experience at coaching Junior Football and he is very excited by the prospect.   He sees a lot of natural improvement in the group of boys who played at Under 10 level in 2015 and really wants to work on their skills, particularly making sure that they can use both sides of their body with kicking and handballing.  He thought that they excelled at their first taste of tackling in Under 10’s and that they can take it to a new level in 2016 in both execution and endeavor.  Although playing at Under 11’s is the first year of competitive football with “Official scores” and “ladders”, Sandi wants to make sure that everyone understands that skill development and creating great team spirit and communication from within the group will be the most important factors for the season ahead.  Good luck Sandi!

The club also wishes to thank Carlo Fanfulla for his two seasons coaching this group of boys and Kathy Benis who was team manager during Carlo’s coaching tenure.  Well done to both of you and we know you will be there to support Sandi and his team in 2016.
