With well over 150 people in attendance, the Mitcham Junior Football Club held its second Presentation Night for Season 2015 last Friday evening at the Mitcham Sporting Club. Up this time were the Under 11’s, 14’s and 17’s. All three of these teams were knocked out of finals a few weeks back so it was certainly great to have them back at the club with a much more positive vibe. With Under 17 player, Joey Shubert playing guitar and singing prior to the award presentations and during the breaks, a really fun night was had.

The evening was again hosted by Gavin Ward who early in the night spoke about what a fantastic year of growth our club has had as well as painting an exciting future ahead. This year we had over 150 registered players spread over our six teams as well as 100 plus kids registered in our AUSKICK program. Off the field our sponsorship was at an all time high and we have had some very successful fundraising throughout the season. This has enabled the club to keep our registration fees low, continue to offer our first year players free registration and allow us to be able to sell all of our apparel at almost cost price. Importantly we spent a lot of money on equipment and particularly footballs so that all teams had brand new footballs for training throughout the year. We introduced training tops with playing numbers this season and made them available in correct sizing for all players. This was a resounding success as was the new design on our playing shorts. Building the brand and making this a fun and family friendly environment for the kids to learn and play this great game has been the major goal and will continue to be in Season 2015 and beyond.

Congratulations to James and Josh for an outstanding season at the Mitcham Football Club. As well as playing in our Under 14’s team on a Sunday, these boys were also “water carriers” throughout the season every Saturday for the senior side. Well-done boys!

We also paid tribute to outgoing President Luke Smith. Luke was presented with a framed MJFC jumper for his outstanding 8 years as President of the Junior Club. It has taken lots of hard work behind the scenes from Luke and his committee to build the junior club to where it is today. Everyone involved at the club thanks you Luke for having the vision and the work ethic to get things done! A presentation was also made to Al Wilson who has worked alongside Luke on the committee through these 8 years as well as doing all the sponsors signage around Walker Park. A huge “thank you” Al and Kim! Graham Bradtke was also presented with a framed jumper in recognition of not only being a jumper sponsor for our Under 12’s team, but also for being our clubs main photographer and supplying photos for our website and Facebook page every week. Your commitment to the cause was sensational Graham. Thank you!
