The Under 17’s and Under 14’s returned to the Pre-season training track at Mullauna College over the previous two Sunday mornings in what could be called “rather warm and trying conditions!” Both teams have had really good numbers training and the boys have come back after the summer break looking fit and sharp.

The Under 14s are very much looking forward to season 2014 after an injury riddled 2013. They played some fantastic football towards the end of last season when they had almost their full list to pick from and really pushed the eventual division Premiers in the final home and away game. With plenty of hard work and commitment now and over the coming weeks, Season 2014 can be an exciting one for this group of boys. Coach Cam Chivers said “The heat over the past two sessions has climbed upwards of 30 degrees at 8am so has been physically and mentally taxing on some of the boys, but they have pushed through and fought hard to get through training. It is going to take an extra effort for each and every one of the boys this season to get where they want to be and it has been obvious to me that all the boys are ready to fly.”

The Under 17’s have really hit the ground running since the Christmas break and have been training twice a week for a couple of weeks now in preparation for a big 2014 season. With excellent numbers and under the watchful eye of Head Coach Gavin Ward and assistants Craig Giles and Matt Schneider, they have looked very good on the track and the boys know that they will need to continue to work very hard as a team during this pre-season to give themselves every chance to be an extremely competitive team this season.

This Sunday (February 16th) we have all our other age groups commencing Pre-season training at Mullauna College (Corner of Springfield and Mitcham Roads, Mitcham). The Under 9’s and 10’s will train from 9am – 10am, followed by the Under 11’s and 12s from 10am-11am. on the soccer ground. The Under 14’s and 17’s will continue on the main oval from 9am-10.30am.

We will have a Marquee set up where we will process Registrations and sell merchandise. For players who have already registered but not paid their FULL MJFC registration fees – this will be the perfect opportunity to do so. We will have Credit Card facilities available but you can also pay by CASH or CHEQUE. There will also be a sausage sizzle, with ice-cold drinks available. We also plan to have our 2nd Hand Football Boot stall operating later in pre-season, so if you have some unwanted football boots lying around at home, bring them along – they may help someone in our TIGER FAMILY.

The younger age groups will also be fitted out for their PLAYING JUMPERS and NEW TRAINING JUMPERS. We trust everyone will be patient as this process takes place.
