The Mitcham Junior Football Club are proud to get out and about and take football to our local schools. As well as providing a place for children to come and learn the skills and play Australian Rules football, it is important that we are also seen to be giving something to our local community. Already we have had successful Auskick Clinics at the Mount Pleasant Primary School and the Mitcham Primary School. On Tuesday April 16, it was the turn of Old Orchard Primary School in Blackburn North.

With the MJFC Auskick Co-ordinator Craig Giles running the session, the club was also represented by under 13s Coaches Cam Chivers and Glenn Newnham and under 10s Team Manager Kylie McCall. Thank you also to Under 13 players, Josh Chivers, Emile Sebafundi and Tom Donelly for helping out.

With nearly 90 Prep children in the first clinic and over 70 Prep and Grade 1 children in the second clinic, we were all kept fairly busy. Craig talked to the children about what Auskick involes and then they were split into groups where we went through some of the typical drills that they would do in a Auskick session. Handball, marking and goal kicking were just some of what the kids experienced. A little bit of a football quiz at the end was hotly contested by all of the children with the winner receiving a football for their class.

On Wednesday April 17, the club makes a visit to Whitehorse Primary School in Nunawading. Thank you in advance to the volunteers enlisted for these clinics.

The Mitcham Junior Football Club NAB Auskick program returns bigger and better in 2013. Starting this Friday April 19, we will have clinics under lights at Walker Park, Nunawading (the official MCG of the East!) every Friday night from 6pm till 7pm. A great family friendly environment and with the very experienced Craig Giles as Auskick co-ordinator, what better place could you wish to have your children learn all there is to know about playing this great game.
