Junior Football returned to Walker Park on Sunday April 7, with the Mitcham Junior Football club hosting practice matches against the Somerville Junior Football Club.  With the ground in imaculate condition, under sunny skies, the under 9s, 10s and 11s kicked the day off with a scratch match among themselves.  A great game was had, and it was a good hit out for everyone before the season kicks off for real next weekend.  Well done to all involved.

The Under 13s played off against two Somerville teams, with each team playing a half against our 21 available players.  In a really good game of football, we believe we went down by a point, but the coaching staff could not have been happier.  Someville had half a dozen very big boys in their team, but our boys were not intimidated and really took it up to them.  The game was played in great spirt and was the ideal preparation for our team leading into the season proper.  Well done boys, especially concidering we had some very good players out!

The under 15 Game was of a very high standard with the Mitcham Boys recording a 3 goal come from behind win against a very physical  Somerville team that has  played in the last four A grade grand finals. The Mitcham coaching staff  were very pleased with the level of discipline shown by the Tigers both in game plan and attack on the ball. The club is also pleased to say that Conor was released from hospital last night and he will make a full and speedy recovery

In the under 17s The Tigers ran into a very strong and well drilled Somerville team   and while there was a slight blow out on the scoreboard our boys look primed for a great season with some handy new recruits and under the watchful eye of Simon Godfrey should be more than competitive in the C Grade this season.

Thank you to everyone who helped out on the BBQ and Apparel store on the day.  Many hands make light work and it is much appreciated.

A big week of training no doubt for all teams this week, with the season starting next weekend.  Remember we have Jumper Presentation night on Friday night.  All players need to be in attendance.  Details are on the home page of this website.
