2018 Elliott Davey Medal Presentation Night
Belmont 16 Footers Sailing Club will play host to the 2018 Elliott Davey Medal Presentation Night . The Black Diamond AFL’s gala of-field event will be held on Wednesday, August 22 with in excess of 300 people expected to attend.
The night will see the Best and Fairest player in the Hunter Haval Black Diamond Cup competition walk away with the prized Elliott Davey Medal. Cardiff ruckman Tom Yensch is the reigning medallist and will once again start favourite to make it back-to-back awards after another strong season not just by himself but also Cardiff. The increasing of the competition from six teams to eleven teams will open up the voting which has the potential to see a surprise winner.
The best and fairest player in the GE Women’s competition will also be awarded and with 2017 winner, Alison Parkin now playing in Sydney a new winner will be crowned. The Black Diamond Plate Best and Fairest winner will also be announced on the night.
Apart from the Best and Fairest awards both the Black Diamond Cup and Women’s Teams of the Year will also be announced which will recognise the best 22 players, and coach in those competitions as well as the Umpire of the Year.
Other awards that will be presented on the night include Most Outstanding Young Footballer and Rising Star for both men and women. Black Diamond Cup Coaches MVP, Representative player of the Year as well as the leading goalkickers in each competition.
The leading clubs will also be recognised with the Club Championships and Administration Award also to be presented.
Another major award will be the James J Arnold award which will be presented to the Volunteer of the Year. This is a highly regarded award that recognises the important role volunteers play in our league.
