2014/15 Season Wrap Up!!

West Beach put on another beautiful night for participants of the grand final matches of the Glenelg Touch Association’s 2014/15 season, even if it was a little chilly for spectators.

The Everlong Burners went into the A Grade grand final only having lost 1 game this season and Out of Touch came in off of a great semi-final win over the second placed team. Everlong Burners managed to take control of the game early and maintained their lead throughout the entirety of the match. The Burners eventually coming out on top with a 10-2 Victory and securing their second A Grade grand final victory in a row.

In the B-Grade Final, the Wombats, who had enjoyed a very consistent season were up against the Under the Pump team who were finishing the season strongly. In what was a high scoring affair Under the Pump came away with a 13 to 6 victory in their first season at Glenelg Touch and the first season of touch football for a majority of their members. It was a great game to watch with great skills and attitudes shown by members of both teams.

The MVP’s for the season were –

Mathew Swan from Under the Pump and Lisa Thorpe from the Plebs, congratulations to both participants on a great season!

On behalf of the Glenelg Touch Association (GTA) and Touch Football South Australia, I would like to thank you for your participation in the 2014/15 Summer season. This competition has been a pleasure to coordinate and I sincerely hope to see you all again next season.

I would like to make special mention of the referees, without whom this competition would not have been possible. Especially to Denis Wooldridge who has been with Glenelg Touch since its first season, we wish him the best for his retirement from refereeing. If you wish to become a referee, or know someone who may be interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me. In order for the competition to improve and grow, we will need more referees in the future.

I’m sure there are things that you would like to see changed or altered in the future, so I welcome your feedback in the form of the GTA survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2HMVW2Q Any feedback you might have will be taken into consideration for next season, so that your enjoyment as players and referees can be maximised.

Whilst the GTA will not be running a Winter season, I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed the past season enough that you will join us again in Summer 15/16 for another season!
