Senior Comp winners

Our Senior Competitions all wrapped up last Wednesday, with both some new and old winners taking the final trophy.

The first Grade to be decided on the night was our C-Grade competition, which saw ladder leaders 36ers taking on a new-look team, the Lakers. While jumping out to an early lead, the 36ers were regularly pegged back by the Lakers crew with the margin in single digits at 3/4 time. However, the 36ers went on with it after the final break, taking out the game 43-28.

The closest final of the night was the highly anticipated B-Grade showdown between the new challengers Sharks Tale, and the defending champs, Screaming Eagles. Early on, it was all Sharks Tale as they edged up towards a double-digit lead near half-time. However, the title-holders fought back with a couple of timely 3s to bring the scores level in the last minutes of the game. In the end, Sharks Tale proved too strong, taking the win with a 37-34 scoreline.

The A Grade final saw defending champions Tropics taking on the perenially strong Then & Now team. Then & Now got off to their usual slow start, but as they have all season, they showed their true strength in the 2nd & 3rd quarters, bringing the scoreline back within reach. In the end however, the fire-power and running game of the Tropics proved too much as they went on to take out the match 44-32 to defend their title.

Unfortunately due to the absence of our U16 girls at the National Schools Championships in Melbourne who make up the bulk of the Blue Avengers team, their grand final match-up against DOH won't be able to be run this season.

And don't forget that this Friday will see our U12 boys, and U14 girls finals being played out.

The Finals schedule for Friday, 8th December is:

  • 5.15pm - U12/14 Girls Final - Sand Castle Slammers v John Oxley Allstars
  • 6.15pm - U12 Boys Final - Little Rascals v Ballerz
