The Chambers Franklyn Joondalup Cuity Wolves have a super exciting 2019 fixture prepared for fans, with many blockbuster contests and highlights in-store for the Wolfpack!

2019 is all about our AMAZING FANS

The Wolves continue to lead the League in relation to new and exciting innovations, including the development of fan-focused, sustainable fixtures, and 2019 will certainly be no exception.

Provided below is a summary of the highlights of the forthcoming 2019 SBL fixture -

Season Opener vs. Goldfields Giants

The Wolves travel to Perry Lakes on Friday March 15 to open the 2019 season against the Hawks. The Grand Final rematch for our Men’s program is certain to be billed as the game of the opening round, with our Men’s team looking to improve on last meeting.

On the Saturday of opening weekend, March 16, the Wolves Men will host the Goldfields Giants at HBF Arena, with the Wolfpack fanbase getting their first glimpse of the 2019 Men’s Wolves roster on home court.  Expect new recruits Earnest Ross, Kevin Davis and Ridell Camidge to go ballisitic, filling the stat sheet for the first of many times this year.

As difficult as it will no doubt be, Wolves fans will have to wait one additional week to witness the new and improved Lady Wolves on home court, due to Goldfields only having a Men’s SBL team.

Trust us, it will be worth the wait!

Battle of Joondalup IV vs. Stirling Senators

The Wolves will again contest cross-town rival the Stirling Senators, this time early in the season on Saturday March 23.

The game is fast becoming the League’s greatest exhibition of a collaborative blockbuster fixture, and this being its fourth year in a row, the plans for the game are already well underway. Trian Iliadis always goes nuts in these games, must be a coincidence, so expect him to fill it up at an eye-catching clip.

The Battle of Joondalup IV will have some additional spice to it in 2019, with former Senators Captain Amber Land now a key piece of the 2019 Lady Wolves roster, and no doubt motivated to deliver a strong performance against her old club.

The winning club on the highest aggregate result over both the Men’s and Women’s games will claim the Merv Day Shield.

Cancer Awareness Round  vs. Perry Lakes Hawks

The club’s most important blockbuster fixture, Cancer Awareness Round, will be held on Saturday April 13 against the Perry Lakes Hawks. The charity round will see both fund and awareness raising activities in support of the Cancer Council, and its initiatives.

Wolves SBL athletes will again wear their special-event yellow singlets, honouring those affected by cancer. Both Mikayla Pirini and Rob Huntington are tipped to have enormous games in this special-cause fixture.

The winning club on the highest aggregate result over both the Men’s and Women’s games will claim the Gaye Mayger Shield, in honour of the late Association Administrator, and Parent and Grandparent of current and former Wolves players and volunteers.

Pre-Easter Blockbuster vs. Rockingham Flames

The Wolves fanbase have shown tremendous support to this fixture over past seasons, and this year’s clash is sure to excite and mobilise the Wolfpack Army with the club contesting the Rockingham Flames, featuring former Wolves players Greg Hire and Brad Robbins.

The Flames Women’s roster is always strong and will provide plenty of challenge for the Lady Wolves, so the night promises to showcase some of the very best SBL talent available in 2019, including Wolfpack juniors who have both been WSBL Rookies of the Year, Amy Kidner and Chelsea Belcher.

Make the game your first-stop on your families Easter itinerary, as there’ll be plenty of activities, entertainment and of course, Wally the Wolf with lots of Easter eggs for the kids (and adults!)

Women’s Round    vs. Mandurah Magic

A special, tribute round that was the brainchild of the Joondalup Wolves, this weekend will see all SBL clubs honouring the important and significant role and contribution that females make to Basketball in WA.

The Lady Wolves will be on show, with a full roster, and will play 2nd – after the Men’s team, ensuring that the maximum Wolfpack crowd will be in support, with the WSBL game being the main event.

The Wolfpack fanbase can be excited about Georgia Denehey and Izzy Miotti in 2019, and this game will mean a lot to them, so expect them to utilise their Perth Lynx experience and dominate across the night.

Some special merchandise will be available for this round, and the club will look to pay tribute to those ‘Women of the Wolves’ who have worked tirelessly to make our club what it is today – the destination of choice for Basketball.

Heritage Round vs. Willetton Tigers

Later in the 2019 fixture the Wolves will contest the Willetton Tigers during Heritage Round, a weekend of Basketball that will honour the League’s rich history and heritage.

This game will mean a lot to stalwarts such as Seb Salinas, Rhys 'Phil' Smyth and Shani Amos, and they'll be looking to honour the club and the League's heritage with strong performances in front of a huge home crowd.

Keep an eye out for more heritage themed information as the season unfolds, including a ‘heritage singlet’ concept, that will be available for fans as a retail opportunity – a piece of apparel capturing the club look from some very special golden years!
