ROUND 2 of the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 competition will kick off on Saturday afternoon at Grovedale Reserve when Deakin Ducks makes the short trip from Waurn Ponds to take on Barwon SC.

Kicking off at 1pm, Barwon will be hoping to kick off its season in the best way possible after having a bye last week, while Deakin Ducks will be looking for a second consecutive victory after defeating the highly fancies Geelong Rangers 1-0 in the opening round last weekend.

Meanwhile across town, newly promoted Bell Park will host Surf Coast FC at the Bell Park Sports Club also on Saturday afternoon at 1.00pm.

Bell Park will be looking to maintain its impressive start to the season – after defeating state champions Drysdale 2-1 last week - while Surf Coast will be aiming for a good showing in its first game of the season, after enjoying the bye last week.

Just down the road in neighbouring Bell Post Hill, Geelong Rangers will play Drysdale SC at Myers Reserve, starting at 3.00pm. Both Geelong Rangers and Drysdale will be hopeful for a more positive result this week after both teams lost their opening round matches last week.

Kardinia International College has a bye again this week and will be kicking off its season’s campaign against close neighbours Bell Park in Round 3 action.

The weather forecast for Saturday looks to be a major improvement compared to the season opener last week, so it should be a lot better conditions for football this weekend.
