Gippsland bound

The November clearances window is now open with some big name arrivals already announced by Gippsland clubs.

Headlining the list of recruits for season 2019 is Phillip Island, with the reigning Alex Scott & Staff West Gippsland Competition premier securing the signature of former North Melbourne and Melbourne utility Cameron Pedersen.

Pedersen and his family moved to the Island following the conclusion of an 80-game AFL career, having spent the majority of season 2018 playing for Casey and helping the Demons reach the VFL grand final.

The Island's West Gippsland rival Nar Nar Goon responded by regaining the services of favourite son, Lachy Hansen.

Hansen, who was taken at pick three in the 2006 AFL National Draft by North Melbourne, played 151 games in 11 seasons at Arden St.

The Pakenham-raised 197cm swingmag joined Essendon and District Football League side Pascoe Vale last season, making 12 appearances for the Panthers, before agreeing to join his boyhood club as a valued one-point player for season 2019.

Another former AFL-listed forward is heading to Gippsland in the shape of ex-St Kilda tall Spencer White.

The 196cm key forward made two appearances in three years on the Saints' list, before shifting to Western Australia where he spent the next three years playing for Perth in the WAFL.

White will not only add some serious firepower to the Lions' forward line, but serve as a playing assistant coach to Lachlan Sim.

Among the other notable big moves announced so far, Sale champion defender Andrew Quirk has joined East Gippsland League club Boisdale-Briagolong and dangerous forward has shifted from Sale City to North Gippsland League rival Woodside.
