League structure confirmed for new Licence Period

Football Federation SA can confirm the league structures for the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues for the New Licence Period, 2016-2018. 

As of Season 2016 a three tier competition will be implemented with 12 teams in the PlayStation4 National Premier League, 12 teams in the State League and 8 teams in State League 1. 

In implementing the structures Football Federation SA has taken  into consideration feedback from the competing clubs in relation to the optimum number of games per season. The structure also accommodates for continual growth of the competition with clubs being able to nominate for State League 1 during the licence period. 

Football Federation SA can also confirm the 2015 promotion and relegation structure that will be implemented to accommodate the new league structure for 2016. 

PlayStation4 National Premier League currently consists of 14 teams and 16 State League teams, to get to the new league structures of 12, 12 and 8 in 2016 as outlined above, the following will be implemented; 

  1. a.     The three lowest placed teams from PlayStation4 National Premier League at the conclusion of 2015 Season are to be relegated to the State League for Season 2016.
  2. b.     The first placed team in the State League at the conclusion of the home and away season in 2015 will gain automatic promotion to the PlayStation4 National Premier League in 2016.
  3. c.     The 4th lowest placed team from the PlayStation4 National Premier League at the conclusion of the 2015 home and away season will playoff against the second highest placed team at the conclusion of the 2015 home and away season from the State League. The playoff will be played over two legs on a home and away basis.
  4. d.     The creation of State League 1 consisting of 8 teams will consist of two new clubs, Fulham United and Vipers and the six lowest finishing teams in the State League at the conclusion of the 2015 home and away season.
