Multi Sports Day - Orange

On Wednesday the 3rd of August a number of students converged on the PCYC in Orange. Students from Anson Street, Carenne, Orange Public, Yeoval Central and Holman Place Schools all participated in a multi sports day for children with a disability. These students were given the opportunity to participate in many sports including Rugby League. Country Rugby League Development officer Alex Prout put the students through their paces and enjoyed being able to show how much fun Rugby League is.

Throughout the day students were given the opportunity to learn the basic skills of Rugby League and emulate their heroes from the National Rugby League. They learnt skills such as passing, catching, running with the ball, stepping, scoring a try and especially enjoyed tackling the tackle bags. The students were then given the opportunity to use their new found skills in game like situations. The skills and engagement shown by these students was outstanding with many of them showing they have the potential to play Junior Rugby League.

Overall the day was a huge success with both students and coaches thoroughly enjoying the event. It was great to see all the students so enthusiastic, getting involved, having some fun and most of all enjoying Rugby League. This is a well organised event which ARL Development and the Country Rugby League hope to be involved with in the years to come.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
