Phil Smyth Coaching Seminar@Hills Basketball Association

Hills Hornets Basketball Association are excited to announce Australian Basketball legend Phil Smyth will be joining us at The Hive from 18-20 April with events catering for both coaches and players to learn from one of the best.

Phil’s accomplishments make for amazing reading. With the Boomers he is a 4 time Olympian, played at 5 World Championships, captained the team on many occasions during his record 365 games and was the winner of the inaugural Gaze Medal, awarded on votes by his fellow players. Phil’s NBL career was no less remarkable, playing 356 games over 14 seasons, winning 3 titles, a Grand Final MVP, 4 Defensive Player of the Year awards and being named to the All NBL team 6 times. After retiring as a player, Phil coached the 36ers for 11 seasons, winning 3 titles in that time. He was named to both the 20th and 25th Anniversary NBL teams. Despite all these achievements, Phil lists his nickname of ‘The General’ as more important than his on court performance “ because(his) peers both in Australia and around the world recognised (his) ability to assess, solve and lead.” Phil has continued to display these qualities running his own business offering motivation, mentoring and coaching programs to groups as diverse as AFL clubs, private businesses and schools. Most recently, the Sydney Kings brought Phil in as a consultant and it seems no coincidence, enjoyed a strong finish to the season from that point.

And now, you have a chance to benefit from Phil’s experience and expertise. On Wednesday, 18 April, Hills Basketball will host a coaching seminar. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from one of the best.  Seminar numbers are limited, so please book in early to avoid disappointment.
