Gliders and LeGassick Goannas ready to Roll
After a disappointing round at the hand of the mighty Northside Wizards, both Gliders and Legassick Goannas have torn the training courts apart during the week to ensure a repeat performance won’t happen again this weekend against the Brisbane Capitals in explosive QBL action at TSS, proudly presented by Terry White Chemists, Tweed Heads.
Gliders head coach Chris Riches was pleased with his group’s effort on Tuesday and Thursday night.
“We talked about it briefly, and then moved on,” he said of the debarkle in Brisbane
“I think we’ve learnt from that, the veteran players were embarrassed and I don’t think you’ll see a performance like that again this season,” he concluded.
LeGassick Goannas head coach Mick Conlon echoed his sentiments.
“We had a really good couple of sessions this week and now we just have to pounce. Not often does anyone like to get spanked twice in a row, let alone lose twice in a row, so I think you’ll see a very different Goannas team on Sunday,” he said.
There is no doubt that the display in Brisbane last week was a one off with the re-focus back on winning at home, where the Gliders and Goannas have shown they are a force in front of a large TSS crowd.
Special guests, Basketball Queensland will be on hand for the big game, as will Allan Hilzinger, the new Business Manager of the Gold Coast Basketball Association.
Special thanks to Terry White Chemists Tweed Heads who are the official game day sponsor.
The excitement is also building for the THINK PINK game on Sunday 27 June against the Ipswich Force at TSS. In a special halftime presentation this weekend and the weekend’s leading into that game, you will have the opportunity to see the PINK uniforms that will be worn by Gliders and Goannas players to raise awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Official NBCF merchandise will be available at all home games leading into the THINK PINK game where we want to create a sea of PINK in support of such a good cause!
The Gliders tip off at midday with the Goannas scheduled to tip off at 2pm.
