The ‘right’ person

The QRL Media team requires a designated correspondent to submit a weekly article on a selected competition. We’re looking for committed people who are passionate about rugby league and have sound writing skills. You could be a player, coach, president, parent – or simply a supporter with a strong interest in the game.

Deadlines & Requirements

The selected person for each competition/region will be given an official title – ie QRL Toowoomba Rugby League (Senior) Reporter. All articles will need to be submitted before the nominated weekly deadline via email.

Articles will need to be submitted by 4pm on Mondays following weekend fixtures. There is no specific word limit for an article (300 is the recommended minimum and 800 the max). The articles will be exclusive to, unless agreed upon before the starting date.

Writing styles

Stories will be published on and will include the writer’s name. The QRL reserves the right to edit submitted articles. Photos are welcome as well but not essential.

Ideally, we would like each reporter to provide an informative review of the weekend’s round. You could watch a game and write a match report, detail the other results and list the upcoming weekend’s fixtures

But you don’t have to stick to match reports. You could get reaction and comments from the coaches and players, or help promote upcoming club or competition events. You could write a feature story on a player or administrator who has reached a significant milestone. Remember to look outside the square as there could be a fantastic story right under your nose. Most importantly, have fun with your writing and learn as you go.

What’s in it for you?

Along with having your name and article published on the QRL website, we’ll put together a number of nice rewards for those who stick with us. This will be finalised shortly.

Contact Michael Hillier if you are interested in covering a particular competition.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
