Going out on fresh rubber, a single pit stop for tyres was made in the 20 minute qualifying session. Getting in 8 laps, a time of 1.50.85 qualified #55 just out of the top 20, in 21st.
Race one was a close race, with the safety car constantly bringing the field back together. Under race conditions TD fended off attempts by Richards and others to pass while attacking and working through the field.
Coming in to pit from 12th position
'Brighty had fuel problems in our shared pit area which held me up a little. The boys threw some tyres on and were back in the game'.
Avoiding the wrath of the concrete jungle known as the QLD street circuit, TD steered clear of those who had fallen victim and manouvered #55 into a solid 13th position where it completed the 34 lap race.
'The safety car constanty re-grouped the field which made a demanding racing. The car was consistent and never missed a beat. We have good pace, and starting in 13th for the second race today will give us a head start to work further up the field'.
Race two saw the race under yellow flag conditions within the first lap from first corner carnage. The safety car pulled in after 4 laps and it was on for young and old. Carving through the field, T.D was quickly up to 9th position with some great race speed, when he came in to pit for tyres and fuel on lap 15.
A speedy pit stop had #55 back out on the track in no time. Fighting off vigorous attempts at being passed The Bottle-O Commodore ran a solid race as those dropped around it, finishing the final race of the round in 16th position.
The Bottle-O Commodore finished 10th for the day on points which was a great result considering how tough the Gold Coast circuit is!
'Today was better then our previous two days. We struggled a little towards the end of race two, but steadily pushed on. It was a tough weekend for most teams. Everyone at some stage or another has received a tap from someone or a brush with the wall. It was a matter of trying to stay clear of trouble and do what you have to do'.
The next round is The Island 300, November 7th and 8th, a 2 day charity event that has replaced Bahrain for 2009.
