2018 Elite 8 Teams
1 December 2017
The Cowboys have made just three changes to their 2017 Elite 8 men’s team in their quest for a third straight title.
In the team announced by Queensland Touch Football today, Justin Cridland and Trevor Moran return to the side after missing the 2017 series, while exciting Rockhampton youngster Blake Moore makes his debut.
The Cowboys defeated Titans 6-3 in an all-Queensland final, securing their third title in four years. New Titans coach Chris Loth has also opted to retain a core group of the 2017 team, blooding three young debutants amongst his more experienced campaigners.
The Broncos will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing sixth place in this year’s series, boosted by the return of key players Justin Otto and Tom Quinlivan.
Their female counterparts will be out to avenge a heartbreaking loss to NSW Scorpions in the women’s final, and will again field a very strong side with a host of Queensland and Australian representatives. Peta Rogerson will also return to the Broncos following the birth of her first child.
A new-look Cowboys women’s team will look to key attacking weapon Tamika Upton to steer their young side around, following her debut in the Australian Women’s Open team this year.
Titans women’s coach Renee Murphy will use the combination of experience and youth as she aims to guide her team deeper into the finals after their semi-final loss in 2017.
The Elite 8 series will be played at the National Touch League (NTL) at Coffs Harbour on March 7-10.
