The stage is set for an enthralling final day of play at the Queensland Junior State Championships in Townsville.

In the Under 16 divisions, SQBD Sharks finished on top of the ladder despite a loss to CQ on Day 2, and will play Sunshine Coast for a place in the grand final on Sunday.

CQ will be full of confidence after their 5-3 win over the Sharks, with Kirralee Costello scoring four touchdowns to add to her hattrick in their earlier win over Sunshine Coast.

The Sharks continued their dominance in the Under 16 Boys, finishing undefeated heading into the final day.

Their main threat lies in CQ, who dropped their only game of the tournament to the Sharks in a closely-fought 11-9 loss.

In the Under 14 Girls, CQ amassed 46 points and conceded just 8 across five games to finish clear frontrunners at the end of the regular rounds.

In their 10-0 win over Sunshine Coast, nine different players scored touchdowns in a remarkable team effort.

Their male counterparts also finished on top of the Under 14 Boys’ division, yet to drop a game.

They will play the SWQ Swans in the semi final for a place in the grand final, with SQBD and NQ to face off in the other semi final.

In the Under 12 Girls, SQBD and CQ faced off in their second match of Day 2 – both undefeated in their previous three games.

Annemarie Kiria-Ratu starred for the Sharks, scoring once and setting up another two in their 7-4 win. Emily Gauld also picked up a hat-trick, while Emily Herdon scored a double to take her individual tally for the day to seven.

CQ bounced back in their final game of the day to record a 7-1 win over NQ.

In the Under 12 Boys, SWQ will play NQ in the first semi final, followed by SQBD up against CQ.
