Seeking Lead Coach applicants for 2018 NWC Rep Teams

 

Netball Wellington Centre invite interested coaches to take up the opportunity to get involved with coaching our 2018 representative teams. 

We currently seek keen applicants for positions of Lead Coach.  We encourage you to please have a good look over the job descriptions that interest you and thoroughly check the commitment dates listed before registering your interest.  To apply, please complete the attached form, briefly outline your experience or provide a coaching CV and return all information to Netball Wellington Centre via email to admin@netballwellington.co.nz or fax (04) 387 8309.

Positions within the Representative Team Management are a pathway opportunity for all coaches and managers wishing to further their coaching careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at Centre level.

Netball Wellington Centre welcome those who wish to take up the exciting opportunity to work alongside other experienced individuals. These positions are in a volunteer capacity however provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop yourself.  Travel and accommodation will be covered for each team management official to attend most away fixtures and tournaments. 

At present we seek keen applicants for the positions of Lead Coach for the following range of teams:

  • Year 9 Team for a two year period
  • U15 1st Team (Black) for a two year period
  • U15 Development Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U17 1st Team (Black) for a two year period
  • U17 Development Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U19 Team for a two year period
    NB: Open Grade (19+) Lead Coach role applications will open in the first half of 2018.

Applications for Assistant Coach and Team Manager will open from January 2018.

Year 9 Representative Team

• Year 9 Trials Wednesday 4, Sunday 8 & Wednesday 11 April with Rain Day reserved for Sunday 15 April 2018 held at Hataitai Courts.

• Saturday 2  & Sunday 3  June 2018  - Marjorie Jenden Tournament hosted by Netball Wairarapa  in Masterton (travel dates: depart early Saturday 2 June, return evening Sunday 3 June)
• Sunday 10 June 2018 – Betty Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North (travel up & back on day)
• Sunday 24 June 2018 - Molly Dorne Tournament held in Levin (travel up & back on day)
• Sunday 8 to Tuesday 10 July 2018 – North Island U15 Championships held in New Plymouth (travel dates: depart midday Saturday 7, return late Tuesday 10 July)
Year 9 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Courts – some flexibility for change possible

Under 15 Representative Teams

U17 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Courts – some flexibility for change possible

Under 19 Representative Team
some dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for dates to be reviewed/added
• U19 Trials Tuesday 8 & Sunday 13  May 2018 held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Sunday 10 June 2018 – Betty Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North (travel up & back on day)
• Sunday 24 June 2018 – Dale Wortman Invitational Fixtures held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Warm up match TBC with other U19 teams prior to Nationals, date/s and venue TBC
• Monday 9 to Thursday 12 July 2018 – Netball N Z U19 Champs  held at  ASB Bay Park Stadium in Tauranga (travel dates: depart Sunday 8  July, return Thursday 12   July).
U19 trainings traditionally held Sunday mornings 10am-11.30am and Tuesday evenings 6pm-7.30pm at the ASB Sports Centre – some flexibility for change possible

Additional possible rep team commitments:
• Gold Coin Days – Saturday 26 May & Saturday 23 June 2018 – collections at ASB Sports Centre venue.  Further fundraising ventures to be confirmed during 2018
• Observe Year 9/U15/U17 players attending 2018 Pre-Season Development Programme at ASB Sports Centre (Term 1 – six weeks.  Starts Tuesday 13 February, ends Tuesday 27 March.  Year 9 group 4.30-6.00pm.
• Plan & facilitate the Centre’s 2018 pre-season development sessions for potential U17/U19 trialists  in consultation with the Centre (Term 1 - dates TBC in consultation with successful candidate)
• Observe/identify potential trialists during Saturday Winter Competition prior to and during trials where able.

  • Attend an interview for this position if required.
  • Consent to a police check being conducted for successful candidates.
  • Make yourself available to attend meeting/s prior to and after representative team trials.
  • Attend all trials and pre-trials selections to confirm player selection (if appointed Selector).
  • Respond to requests from Netball Wellington Centre in a timely manner.

Applicants must also be open to attending a debrief interview/meeting at the end of the representative season.
