Dissecting your team's game play then establishing what went right and what could do with being worked on is a highly advantageous skill to have. The same applies when observing and analysing your opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Learnings that come from analysis can then be used to great effect by both coach and player alike in strategising successful game plans and this type of preparation can often give you the edge over your opponent.
If you're a coach who's keen to upskill and expand your netball know-how here's your chance to make the most of your off-season for your own personal development. Why not attend some of our coaching courses aimed at teaching you the best techniques, sharing ideas and supplying you with the right knowledge to be the best coach you can be? Course content has been compiled by experts from Netball New Zealand and even offer the chance to gain recognised accreditation for your efforts.
The next course on offer is Game Analysis which allows coaches the chance to learn how to:
1. Identify a tactical aspect of the game and develop a tool to analyse it.
2. Collate, summarise and reflect on information about the tactical aspect of the game.
3. Develop and implement a team talked based on the information collected from analysis.
Content covers a number of analytical areas such as tactical analysis and identifying critical success factors. Discuss the benefits of data collection, collation and interpretation in establishing strengths to use to full potential within your own team and weaknesses to perhaps exploit in your opposition. Develop a game plan, learn some commonly used terminology, learn how to formulate rousing team talks and flourish thanks to opposition analysis.
The workshop will be run in conjunction with the Netball Central Zone's Super Club Tournament allowing a unique opportunity to observe real game scenarios in action, gain some working experience of taking stats during a game and discuss what the stats reveal. Perfect for visual and kinaesthetic learners who appreciate learning by seeing and doing.
While this workshop is geared towards the netball code and is Netball New Zealand accredited, general concepts may be easily applied to all sports. We therefore welcome attendees from other sporting codes. We'd like to help you prepare as best you can to allow both you and your team to have a highly enjoyable learning experience for seasons to come.
