Hawks Draw Blood

Modbury ran out comfortable winners over West Adelaide in the under 18’s competition, played at City Mazda Stadium on Sunday.

The Hawks took the lead early, with a goal within the first two minutes of play.

Modbury dominated play for much of the first half, locking the ball into their forward zone, creating many scoring opportunities.

Chloe Scheer made her presence felt all over the ground, as she applied defensive pressure and also finished the game with three goals.

As the game progressed, West Adelaide’s defensive pressure increased, resulting in only one goal to the Hawks in the second term.

In the third quarter, West Adelaide found their feet and strengthened their attack on the ball, leading to two goals by the Wolves.

West Adelaide’s Rachel Fillmore worked well in both defence and attack, and scored her team’s first goal.

However, despite a final push by West Adelaide in the last quarter, the Hawks steadied, securing a comfortable 27-point win.
