The competitions will run on alternate weeks throughout most of the season, with breaks for the Easter weekend prior to Round 2, the Kevin Coombs Cup in late April as well as two Gliders international tours in late May and late June and a Rollers international tour in early June.

Both leagues will help fine-tune the national representative’s preparations for the IWBF World Championships later this year with the Australian Rollers and Gliders both competing against the best of the world in Germany from August 16-26.

Tipping off on March 16, the NWBL will host a Cluster Round for the opening weekend at the Bendat Basketball Centre and Cockburn Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Western Australia.

Eight rounds will be played through the regular season before the finals are hosted in Carina, Queensland, from July 20-22.

All seven clubs will feature in Round 1 with 14 games played across three days in a whirlwind start to the season which begins with last year’s Champions, the Wollongong Rollerhawks, taking on the Adelaide Thunder who made their return to the competition in 2017.

The Sydney Metro Blues will have to wait until Round 2 for a Grand Final re-match against the Rollerhawks and that night will also see the Queensland Spinning Bullets face the Kilsyth Cobras in a bronze medal game re-match.

In the WNWBL, six teams will challenge for the title this year with the defending Champs, Sydney Metro Blues, opening Round 1 against the Queensland Comets who will be keen to bounce back from their fourth-placed finish in 2017.

12 games will be played across the first weekend at Hawkesbury Basketball Stadium in New South Wales and there will be another mini-cluster round to end the regular season at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland.

The WNWBL finals will then be played from July 27-29 at the Bendat Basketball Centre in Western Australia.
