Last Year: 9 wins, 7 losses- 2nd

Roster: Mari Amimoto, Kirsty Bishop, Georgia Bishop-Cash, Gemma Buchholz, Jasmine Clarke, Shelley Cronau, Natalie Palmer, Ella Sabljak, Kaia Scholl, Mikaela Smith, Ashley Wardman, Erika Yoshida.

The Comets have the honour of kicking off season 2016 when they face the Sydney Metro Blues this Friday night at 6pm. Round 2 will then be hosted on their home floor at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Winning the bronze medal in last year’s playoff run, the Comets would have been disappointed to lose in the Preliminary Final after finishing the regular season in second place.

They may take a while to gel in 2016 with their three leading scorers from last year not returning in Cobi Crispin, Bridie Kean and Alison Herring but they still have a solid core thanks to Georgia Bishop-Cash, Shelley Cronau and Japanese national Erika Yoshida.

One To Watch:
Heading into her sixth WNWBL season, Sabljak will have a greater role this year courtesy of the loss of several players from the 2015 team. She doubled her point production last season while adding 1.5 assists in her most efficient campaign and she will take further confidence from helping Australia win a silver medal at the women’s U25 Wheelchair Basketball World Champs around this time last year.
