The draw for the 2016 WNWBL season has been released, with just over three weeks remaining until Round 1.

In the 16th year of the competition, the season will kick off in Darlington, NSW on Friday June 17 with ten games to be played across three days at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC).

The Sydney Metro Blues will begin proceedings with a clash against the Minecraft QLD Comets at 6:00pm before the Be Active Western Stars face the defending champions Kilsyth Cobras at 8:00pm.

The fifth and final team of the league, Sydney Uni Flames, will then start their season the following day against the Comets.

A four-round schedule means that finals will begin on August 12 before the gold medal game is played at 1:00pm on Sunday August 14, back at SUSAC.

A majority of the Australian Gliders squad will be playing this season including Cobi Crispin, Amber Merritt, defending overall MVP Clare Nott, Sarah Vinci, Bridie Kean, seven-time 2-Pointer MVP Kylie Gauci, Jessica Cronje and Georgia Inglis to name a few.

The level of competition will also be boosted by such international talent as Chihiro Kitada from the Japanese national team who will compete for the Western Stars.

Keep an eye out on the WNWBL website and social media channels in the coming days for previews on all five teams while the full schedule for the 2016 season can be found here.
