As determined by clubs prior to the season, a trial to modify junior grade match conditions will be undertaken from rounds 6 to 10 inclusive. Details follow here:
2019 – MWFL Modified Rules for Junior Games.
U16 (2003, 2004, 2005)
- 10 - 12 a side with 3 or 4 forwards, 4 mids & 3 or 4 defenders, ideally players play in at least 2 different roles eg forward & back during game;
- Play up and play down policy in place in line with Community Football / JLT recommendation. (U13's would be used on most occaisions to field 12 a side);
- Mercy rule in place but coaches encouraged to balance strength and achieve even number of players before game starts;
- Full oval used with dotted line for boundary reducing width (15m from square);
- 4 x 12 min quarters with 4 min break between quarters;
- Size 4 Sherrin leather ball;
- Normal rules of the game to apply, maximum of 2 bounces;
- Scoring & results as normal on Media Sheet.
U13 (2006, 2007, 2008)
- 10 - 12 a side with 3 or 4 forwards, 4 mids & 3 or 4 defenders, ideally players play in at least 2 different roles eg mid & back during game;
- Play up and play down policy in place in line with Community Football/JLT recommendation. (U10’s would be used on most occasions to field 12 a side);
- Mercy rule in place but coaches encouraged to balance strength and achieve even number of players before game starts;
- Full oval used with dotted line for boundary reducing width (15m from square);
- 4 x 12 min quarters with 4 min break between quarters;
- Size 3 synthetic sherrin ball;
- Normal rules of the game to apply, maximum of 2 bounces;
- Scoring & results as normal on Media Sheet.
MWFL Round 2 Modified rules general match conditions:
- Round 2 only (5 matches);
- 1 Central Umpire, 1 Goal Umpire per game per club (U16 and U13 games) Clubs to pay club umpires $25.00 per game;
- 10 goal mercy rule. Umpires to vote on best players;
- 11am – U 16 - 4 x 12min ¼ with 4 min interval breaks;
- U 13 - 4 x 12min ¼ with 4 min interval breaks;
- U13 game to follow U16 game;
- Last touch rule free kick to the opposition or umpires to decide;
- 5 week Carnival – No premiership points apply however best players/ goal kickers recorded;
- League Best & Fairest votes to be done by umpires;
- 1 time keeper only to be supplied by the home team for both games;
- Play with general recommendations
Clubs are asked to promote this with Colts coaches, team managers, time keepers and umpires.
