CONGRATULATIONS TYSON ‘FOSSIL’ MONTGOMERIE
250 WEST COAST HAWKS A’Grade GAMES
1999 – 2018 (130 Goals, 95 Mail Medal Votes)
7x Premiership Player 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014
Mid West Football League & Eyre Peninsula Representative
Congratulations to an elite champion in Mid West, Tyson Montgomerie, playing 250 games for the Hawks. A glittering career, a true gentleman and leader in our League. Originally a wonderfully skilled midfielder, later years has seen a move to back where he leads a miserly rebounding Hawks defensive unit. A two sided player, dangerous around goals (at least as a young bloke) and a genuine team man. Tyson enjoys a huge respect right accross the league, and will hold his place in any era best of side.
A look at some moments in Tyson's career. (select photo to enlarge)

Quotes from team mates:
“Congratulations Tyson, a fearless polished competitor who always puts his club and team first with outstanding results and passion. A highly consistent team player for WCH. If we could nominate a role model, Tyson would be my first nomination. Legend mate” Ian Hood (Premiership Coach 2009)
“Toughest player that I have ever played with, doesn’t matter who is between him and the ball he hits it harder than anyone else” Joel Montgomerie (Premiership Teammates 2003, 2006)
“A very reliable and talented backman who rarely ever gets beaten. I know he has always wanted to be a forward but he enjoys playing from behind too much. Well done on 250 mate” Paul Evans (Coach 2015-2016)
“Champion on and off the field, hard at it and never taken a backward step. Has taken on the biggest and best, and always come out on top. Absolute pleasure to play alongside. Congratulations on making it to 250 games mate, you and your family should be bloody proud” Nathan Johnson (Premiership Teammate 2001, 2006, 2013, 2014)
“Toughest piece of wire going around. Congrats Tys, it has been awesome to play alongside you, learn from you and watch you dominate your opponent week in week out” Dylan Kelsh (Premiership Teammate 2011, 2013, 2014)
“Congratulations Tys on 250 games. Well deserved. It’s been a privilege to play alongside you” Damien Johnson (Premiership Teammate 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014)
“Tyson Mont, aka Fossil, I have never met a guy that always complains about how sore he is but still fronts up each week. For a bloke as skinny as Mr Burns, he throws his body into every contest and never shirks the issue. Ultra-consistent player and a team man first” Mark Dolling (Coach 2017-2018)
“One of the best blokes to play with, loves throwing his weight around, just a solid backliner” Jake McEvoy (Premiership Teammate 2013,2014)
“Tough, dedicated and skilful. One of the most versatile players I have ever seen, able to play midfield, back or forward equally as well. His ruthless attack on the ball inspired me and many others. For a player of his size he continually puts his body on the line for the betterment of the team. Been awesome to play so many games alongside you and to witness your well talked about hangers” Dillon Montgomerie (Premiership Teammate 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014)
“Congratulations Tyson on 250 games, a true gentleman on and off the field. A teammate who always has your back and his ferocious competitiveness has driven the Hawks for many years. Well done mate” Brenton Bascombe (Premiership Coach / Teammate 2011, Premiership Teammate 2014)
“It’s been an honour to play alongside you all these years. We have made a ton of memories! You always put your body on the line and are one of the true legends of the game. The colts are lucky to have you as their coach this year. You are a wealth of knowledge. Let’s bring home some more flags!” Aiden Whitford (Premiership Teammate 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014)
