The Tigers are celebrating a very rare victory over the Bulldogs, narrow eight point winners in a nail biter at the 'boo! Charlie Williams continuing with his stellar season, leading the way for the Districts boys, tough Derek Wiliams in the middle of it, Jed Beinke, Broadie Chandler and reliable Kade Gill rounding out the best. Centrals best served by rising star Brodi Grocke, old hands Jake Sampson, Taz Fitzgerald and Jesse Stringer rating highly along with young Corey Waters.
This puts Western Districts in the box seat to claim a finals place. With winter approaching and mid season inter league breaks ahead, they are well placed. No foul for the 'dogs though, they are still very much in the mix!
The Bombers raided the Magpie nest, taking home the premiership points and a place in the four after a completed home and away round. Quite a struggle most of the day, with the more efficient Wirrulla moving away in the last half. Mitch Gum up to his usual best on form, Barney Watkinson providing great shorter term value whilst "On Loan" from BBH. The Bombers would be very keen for his longer stay! Ryleigh Myles, Billy Mayhew and Dan Swaffer rounding out the best. The Maggies led by evergreen veteran Henry Zwar, forever young! Welcome back Dan Foster, better with every game, Matt Greatbatch great against his former side, Izaac Boylan and Josh Mitchell high in the best also.
The football team wrecking ball crashed by Elliston this week, Hawks 225 point winners! Who can stop them? The Roosters undermanned and battling bravely most of the day, but no answers to the slick ball movement of the West Coast machine. Mark Dolling a day out with eleven goals, and many more set up, even handballing away in the goal square regularly in an unselfish dominant display, Dylan Kelsh in the ruck unstoppable, but for a blood rule moment, the fleet footed brigade everywhere, Dylan Montgomerie, Jack Burton, Jess Kenny, Joe Mc Innis. Could name the whole side.
The Roosters effort not reflected on the scoreboard at all, as they did win plenty of contested footy, Steve Paul superb, Josh Redden in it all day, Kyle Higgins, Ross Bascomb, Andrew Mc Leod. Great game again by Matt Williams, hopefully his handsome good looks not spoiled too much by the loss of a tooth in a head clash, sensibly replaced quickly, but choosing to play on.
West Coast Hawks and then daylight on the ladder!
