Thirty of the best underage GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League netballers have been selected to represent the League in upcoming Association tournaments and the Netball Victoria Association Championships.
After selection trials involving over fifty netballers in each age group, selectors had a tough time reducing each squad to fifteen.
With no interleague netball this year due to the Western Region Football League only in their second year of running a netball competition, the League’s junior sides have been entered in local Association tournaments in Shepparton and Echuca, prior to the North East Zone Association Championships to be held in Wodonga on Sunday the 26th of May.
Squad members are currently participating in an extended representative squad training program under well known and experienced head coaches Jacinta Todd (15 & Under) and Di Hanslow (17 & Under).
The League is also still searching for an open grade netball coach for this year’s Netball Victoria Association Championships. The Board is currently speaking with several potential coaches and hope to make an announcement in the coming weeks. The open netball side has been entered in the Association Championships being held in Frankston on Sunday the 16th of June. A squad will be announced in the coming weeks.
GOTAFE GVL Board member Jacqui Hudgson is looking forward to this year’s representative netball program.
“Our 17 & Under team had a fantastic year last year, taking out the State Title at the Association Champs under coach Di Hanslow. They will definitely be looking to follow this up again this year with another strong showing”, stated Hudgson.
“Our 15 & Under team is looking very strong this year and should develop well under coach Jacinta Todd, with an extended training program underway.”
