New Legend and Netball Highlight 2018 Hall of Fame Intake

Tatura star netballer, coach and administrator Gaye Eaton was honoured for her outstanding contribution to the sport as the first netballer to be inducted into the GVL Hall of Fame at tonight’s gala function at the Shepparton RSL.

Eaton, an extremely popular choice, joined four football players to be inducted along with the second member elevated to Legend status.

The first GVL Hall of Fame Legend, former Swans ruckman Robbie Orrman, was on hand to welcome the second player to be elevated to Legend status in mercurial rover Gary Cooper who played with Tatura, Shepparton United and Mooroopna.

Cooper, a star on the field and a popular man off it, holds the record for the number of games representing the GVL as he has worn the purple and gold colours on 22 occasions.

Other inductees for 2018 include:

  • High flying Tatura football coach in the 1950s Keith Warburton. Warburton was a Carlton star before joining Tatura, where he made a tremendous impact on the League
  • Mooroopna 200 game player and two times Morrison Medal winner (1972 and 1973) Dowie Bux
  • Seymour FC’s 1978 Morrison medallist and 1991 Abikhair Medallist Greg Liddell
  • Greg Kirkman who played with three GVL clubs, Kyabram, Shepparton and Shepparton Swans, as well as coaching Kyabram and the Swans and representing the GVL 14 times and Victoria Country
