KOALAS ANNOUNCE 2018 COACHING TEAM

 

The NWS Koalas FC today announced the coaching team for 2018. Following an extensive internal review of the

club’s coaching direction, the club today announced a full team to take the club into the new

season; With a view to build on the success of season 2017 which saw the Club win the coveted Club Championship. The team includes

 

Technical Director

Gerry Gomez

Former Socceroo Gerry Gomez, spent many years as a professional footballer before turning to coaching over 15

years ago. Gerry’s experience includes seasons as the NWS Koalas as First Grade Coach, Head Coach of Northern Tigers and senior coaching roles with Football NSW. Gerry has, in recent years, concentrated his focus on the development of the women’s game and brings a vast knowledge to the position of TD in

what will be his second year in this role with the club.

 

Senior Coaching Consultant

– Steve O’Connor

The depth of the Koalas brainstrust will be strengthened with the input of Australian Football Hall of Famer

Steve O’Connor. With a resume that includes

experience at both National and International levels, the Socceroo legend of 44 internationals will provide an additional resource to assist in the development of both players and coaching staff. We are honoured to welcome Steve into the Koalas Family.

 

First Grade Coach

Jaime Gomez

Jaime holds a Coaching A-License and has worked in all areas of Football from Grass Roots to the Elite level. He has worked with FFA National teams over ten years including the Matildas and Young Socceroos. He has previously worked as head coach of Football NSW NTC Girls team and has also coached for NPL teams

Sutherland Sharks FC and APIA Leichhardt. With a passion for the women’s game and a desire to develop

players to the highest level, Jaime will become a valued member of the Koalas team.

 

Reserve Grade Coach

Andrew Tucker

Andrew joined the Koalas in 2017 coaching the under 17s team after developing his craft at North Shore Mariners and Northern Tigers. Using his analytical approach and with the support of the Koalas team, he was able to take the Koalas under 17s to a championship in his first season with the club

topping off an incredible season with a Grand Final victory.

 

Under 17s Coach

Adam Keramea

Adam joined the Koalas family in 2017 jumping into the position

of under 13s coach. Adam’s maturity and focus

saw him devlop the team across the season playing some very high quality football. The club has recognised his contrubution by entrusting him with the under 17s for season 2018.

 

Under 15s Coach

Paolo Coppotelli

Paolo joins the Koalas after spending time at Gladesville Ravens where he worked as Assistant Coach for First Grade and Reserve grade teams. He was also head coach of the Skill development team U12 as well as coaching through the private school system. Paolo holds an FFA C License and is working to advance his knowledge at the Koalas in 2018.

Under 14s Coach

Andrew Morris

Andrew joins the Koalas having both played and coached at a high level.

He was appointed Technical Director Easts FC in 2015 and has also coached State Titles squads for MetroEast in 2015, 2016 & 2017. Assisted NSM G14 squad, at the Dallas Cup in Texas 2017 and interim coach at WPL1 G15 with the North Shore Mariners season 2017. Conducted Game Training, Senior and Skill Training, & Coach education courses on behalf of the NSWFA through Canterbury and Eastern Suburbs Associations.

Goalkeeping Coach – Dominique Garnier

Dominque played professional football in France for 3 years as a goalkeeper and many years as a semi-professional.

He’s an accredited coach through the Federation Francoise de Football and has an Australian

Junior Football License. Dominique has coached semi-professional teams and, for the last 10 years or so, has specialized in coaching goalkeepers at different levels and of different ages. The Koalas welcome his return for season 2018.

 

Technical Director SAP Programmes

Leigh Wardell

As the 11

th Capped Matilda Leigh has been involved in Women’s Football at an Elite Level for nearly 40 years.

With a real passion for Youth development Leigh continues to identify and nurture emerging talent in her role as the custodian of future Koalas.

 

The SAP Coaches

Under 13s Coach - Vedant Tijoriwala, Under 12s Coach - Matias Farias,

Under 11s Coach - Kevin Johnson and Under 10s Coach - Tom Milicevic. We believe this is a well balanced and experienced group of coaches that has the capability to work together to facilitate the development of our 10 to 13 year old players
