Referee Coordinators Report

Congratulations to all the referee team for a successful first round of competition this year. Your efforts are appreciated so much, and we hope that you have all enjoyed it.

Well done also to the senior refs for each division on your selection to ref finals games.

Some great developments so far this year. Two new refs joined Monique, Kirsty and Sam as part of the Eurobodalla Representative Referee Squad. David made his debut at SJL Wollongong, and Bronte reffed in the NSW Country Champs over the June long weekend. I imagine we’ll be seeing more of you younger refs in the rep ranks soon. First step for anyone interested is the Port Macquarie Jamboree in the September school holidays – please feel free to ask for more information on this.

The new refs are slowly but surely building up game experience, and guys you will find you get more roster next season as people progress into different divisions. The club is really proud of you all, thank you.

There are a couple of points that need to be made. The first is that it is the refs responsibility to not only be ready themselves but also to have the players ready to start at the allotted game time. So this means that the ref on a 4.30 game needs to be at the court by 4.20, and the game should start at 4.30. Likewise the adult games need to be more punctual. This is an area that we have been lenient on to date, as the new roster system slips into place, but next round please focus on getting games started on time.

The other point I would like to stress is how important it is for the referee team to be supportive of each other, and to respect the efforts of all other referees in the club regardless of how many years experience they have. It’s a very hard job to do, every referee starts from the beginning and learns from experience and as far as the club is concerned every referee is not only valued, but is a credit to themselves and the club.

So have a great holidays guys. New refs keep checking the website and the paper as we’re running more skills development clinics this hols, and we’d like you to be involved again.

See you next round. Nola.
