U/12 Breakers Blitz first round of Barrengarry Conference

Batemans Bay Basketball had 24 U/12 players participate in the first round of the Barrengarry conference on the weekend. Representative Coaches couldn’t be happier with the performances of their U/12 squad members with Bay Breakers teams winning 7 out of their 9 games at the locally held first round.

The U/12 Boys team had convincing wins over Shoalhaven, Illawarra and Camden Valley and coach Glen Southwell was impressed with all 10 players performance throughout the day.

Head coach of the U/12 girl’s squad, Kylie Armstrong, was just as pleased by the performance of the 2 girls teams entered. It is wonderful that both our teams were competitive on the day, both teams went great considering most are new to basketball and the two teams are also carrying some very young players.

The Bay Breakers Junior Rep program has entered teams in the Barrengarry Conference purely for participation, improvement and development but if we can also win some games that’s a bonus.

Also on the day saw 5 Junior Batemans Bay referees take the court to officiate. The club congratulated Maddy Bender, Jordan Weeks, Angus Armstrong, Adam May and Kiran Toledo – all being only 12 and 13 years old they all showed maturity and confidence beyond their years and did a great job.

The success of the Bay Breakers junior rep program would not be possible without our wonderful support of our parents who all supported and helped on the day. Also Eurobodalla Shire Council who came to patch up the Hanging Rock Stadiums leaking roof on an out of hours call out so the day could go ahead.

Bay Breakers U/14 Boys and Girls Squads take the courts next Sunday for their first round of Barrengarry with the Girls locally at Hanging Rock and the boys traveling to Moss Vale. Both boys and girls have 2 teams participating.

Meanwhile local competition is well underway and heading into round 5.

Our U/12 Boys comp still has a few spots open so any boys born 2001 or 2000 who would like to play (no experience necessary our qualified coaches will teach you) call Kylie on 44717789.
