Australia 85 vs Kenya 39

 The Goannas played their last game against the Kenyan side and came out winners, 85 to 39. They started the first quarter strongly with punishing defence and quick offense to race to a first quarter lead of 27 points to Kenya’s 7 points. The second quarter was much the same as the first, extending the load to 50 – 16. The third quarter saw Kenya stepping up their defence with the Goannas moving through their offenses to finish with a 77 to 22 lead. The last quarter gave the Goannas bench valuable court experience with Kenya putting in some fast breaks to give them their best quarter yet. The game finished with Australia on 85 points, to Kenya with 39 points. The game was very entertaining and showed great sportsmanship between the two teams. Top scorer for the Goannas were Morgan Williams with 23 points and Lachlan Jackson with 18 points and 17 rebounds, and Sam Cartledge making 15 points and taking 9 steals during the game. The coach believed that the win was the reward for hard work and confidence.He was also impressed with the teams sportsmanship, something that can be overlooked in these tournaments. He also believed that the team has the core of young competitive basketballers who can play for many years to come.
