Shawn Redhage re-signs with Redbacks

The Perth Redbacks have been given a boost for their championship defence with the announcement that Wildcats legend Shawn Redhage will return for 2018.

Redhage joined the Redbacks in 2017 after his last season with the Wildcats and immediately made an impact with the club on and off the court.

Throughout 2017 Redhage averaged 25 points, 9 rebounds & 4 assists per game leading the club to the 2017 SBL championship.

Head Coach Nik Lackovic was thrilled to secure Shawn for another year.

"This is another significant day for us as a club when we have someone of Shawn's stature in the basketball community making the Perth Redbacks his club of choice in the State Basketball League."

"It cements what we have been building over the last five years and aligns with the high values that Shawn and our entire playing group enjoy being a part of."

"What I have focused on in my time as coach extends further then just the on court results for our team. It has been about creating a positive environment, surrounded by positive leaders and mentors, to assist our juniors  in learning what it takes to be successful and Shawn, in my opinion, is probably the best example of that in Western Australia."

"I have a very good understanding about what Shawn provides for us on the court but what out weighs that is the high standard and example he sets for the players in the way he prepares himself to be the best."

"The team and I are very excited about the opportunity that the 2018 season will present."

Our women and men will hit the court this weekend at the SBL Pre-Season Blitz at Warwick, with full fixtures available at sbl.asn.au.
