Redbacks sign Loughton for three game-stint
The Perth Redbacks are excited to announce that ten season NBL veteran and WA product Alex Loughton will be making a special three game appearance starting this weekend.
After a successful four game stint in 2017 for the Redbacks, Head Coach Nik Lackovic was delighted to have Loughton join the club again in a key mentoring role.
“After experiencing the positive impact Alex had in working with us on fast tracking the development of some of young emerging talent last season, it was obvious that we would try to get Alex back again for the start of this season, as we await the return of Michael Vigor and Lee Roberts from playing internationally.”
“Alex has such enthusiasm and passion for the game and his leadership on the court and in the locker room make him an amazing mentor in teaching our players how to prepare and play the game the right way.”
Loughton played four games last year averaging 16.75 points, 9.75 rebounds and 2.25 assists per game off the bench.
He then went on to star for the Tapains averaging 12.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 26 minutes.
After arriving in Perth last night, Loughton was extremely excited to be joining the team again.
“I’m really excited to join the Redbacks again, last off-season it was great to change things up and come over to Perth.”
“It really helped me physically and mentally to prepare for what ended up being my best year output wise at the Taipans.”
“It was a very positive experience, and one that I’m more than happy to repeat”
