Revised Domestic, Representative & Open Age Training Schedule effective 18th June

As you are probably aware, Collingwood College is about to be redeveloped and 14th June was the last time we could use the venue until we return to the new stadium next year.

We have therefore needed to make considerable changes to the domestic, representative and open age training schedules, effective from Monday 18th June. The new schedules for training are below. Please note the following:

  • Please note that changes are not limited to the teams who were training at Collingwood
  • Additional changes have been made for Tuesday nights, effective 26th June (updated schedule attached)
  • Many teams have time and/or venue changes so please check carefully
  • In some instances we have had to shorten training times to accommodate all teams
  • The 14.3 rep girls and 18.2 rep girls have a change of training night and are now training on Tuesdays
  • All girls’ domestic training remains on Monday nights and all boys’ domestic training remains on Thursday nights, however times and venues for many teams have changed
  • We have one new venue (University High) for domestic training, and are hoping that we may get access to further venues in the future.  If so we will re-assess the training

The Committee has asked that this statement be passed on to all members:

"The Committee of Collingwood Basketball Association appreciates and understands the revised training fixture may cause some short-term inconvenience and disruption, and apologises in advance.

Finalising the fixture has proven very difficult, particularly considering that limited court facilities in and around the inner northern suburbs are now being stretched even further. Numerous competing priorities have driven the revised fixture and for this reason, no changes to the revised fixture will be considered in the immediate term.

The Committee again apologises for any disruption, and asks members to remember that the $8.3M redevelopment of Collingwood College - which includes three indoor basketball courts, one of which is a show court with capacity for 250 spectators - is well worth it."
