MSBL Player of the Week - Rnd 1

THE week one Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Dwayne Benjamin of the S&K Electrical Geraldton Buccaneers.

From the Oregon Ducks to the Geraldton Buccs, it was an incredible debut for star recruit Dwayne Benjamin as he dominated in his team’s double road win in Perth.

The Buccaneers kicked off their season at Ray Owen Sports Centre going up against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns with a comfortable 119 to 84 win.

Benjamin managed a game high 33 points to go with 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals while shooting at 66% from the field including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Backing up on Sunday, the Buccs headed to Lakeside to take on the Lightning where Benjamin again top scored with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead his team to their second win of the weekend 99-85.

The Buccs will be hoping Dwayne Benjamin can continue his form this weekend when they host the East Perth Eagles at Active West Stadium on Saturday night in front of a packed home crowd.

Benjamin looks the real deal with his all-round game and incredible athleticism on show in week one and just might be the right fit to take the Buccs all the way this season.
