Wischer named WSBL Player of the Week

THE week sixteen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Klara Wischer of the Merriwa Tavern & Bistro City of Joondalup Wolves.

The Wolves continued their dominance on the weekend to solidify top spot in the standings with double wins over the Kalamunda Eastern Suns and the East Perth Eagles.

One huge reason for Joondalup’s success this season has been the unstoppable form of Klara Wischer who registered her second Player of the Week award for season 2016 this week.

On Saturday night the Wolves made their way up the hill to take on the Kalamunda Eastern Suns with Wischer filling the stats sheet with 17 points, 8 boards and 8 assists to guide her team to a convincing victory 93 to 67.

Backing up for the second leg of their double header on Sunday the Wolves hosted the East Perth Eagles at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium where Wischer was again impressive with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.

The Wolves continue to firm as one of this year’s Championship favourites as they currently sit on top of the ladder with 15 wins and 2 losses and hold a guaranteed top four finish.

Wischer’s numbers highlight her impact in the Wolves success this year, currently sitting inside the top ten for scoring with 18.6 points per game and averaging the leagues second most rebounds per game with 10.5.

The Wolves face another tough double header this weekend hosting the Willetton Tigers on Friday night and then taking on the Mandurah Magic on Saturday at Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
