Message From New Operations Manager

Welcome back to an exciting 2016 for the South Adelaide Basketball Club. I am delighted to take up the role of Basketball Operations Manager and thank the Executive Committee for the opportunity. For me this brings together the years of commercial, human resource and community organisation experience with my love of the game. I started out in banking and finance and transitioned to a career in the not for profit sector. Initially working in administration and executive assistant support roles, I moved through into a senior management role, most recently as a human resource and commercial manager at the Civil Contractors Federation (WA). With this experience I have gained a strong understanding of sponsorship and fundraising, working with volunteers, administrative efficiencies and talent identification.

Basketball has been a huge part of my life and I was fortunate to have a long career starting ABA in 1997 for the then Noarlunga City Tigers, having a stint at an NCAA D1 college and more recently playing for South Adelaide Basketball Club in the ABL team from 2008-2011. I finished my playing career in Perth in the SBL with the Lakeside Lightning in 2013.

I am honoured to be part of this club with its rich history, supportive sponsors and record number of members which all make for a very exciting future. I have a vision to see the club in a purpose built state of the art facility servicing and developing over 1000 members. If you read our President’s latest message you will see that this is a very real possibility in the not too distant future!

I believe a sporting club is about so much more than the game itself. It is a place where people young and old can come and learn about team work, leadership, mateship, dedication and discipline. This club has an excellent culture of going above and beyond for its members and getting behind each other and I look forward to building this culture of excellence in a supportive environment.

I wish all our teams the best for the season ahead and look forward to meeting you.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
