As you all would be aware the Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast in April 2018.

Whilst this is an amazing time for the Gold Coast and we have we have gained some amazing new sports centres, it does come with some disruptions to local sporting associations for the first 6 months of 2018.

GC Basketball will be majorly affected with The Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre becoming unavailable to all sporting groups as of January 22nd, 2018 until June 2018.

GC staff have been working tirelessly to lock down alternative venues for this period and have been able to book some local schools and recreation centres.

The current season will play its final rounds the week of 11th December 2017

Semi-finals - week of the 8th of January 2018

Grand Finals - week of the 15th January 2018.

A new season will begin the week of February 5th.

All teams must nominate for the new season. I will not be taking any team nominations that are not on the new Team Nomination form as some competition nights have changed because of venue availability.

At this time the competition will run out of 3 stadiums over 3 nights only.

Mixed Social - TSS, Somerset College and Emmanuel College

Division 1 Men - TSS

Div 2 and Div 3 Men - Emmanuel College

Div 4 and Div 5 Men - Somerset College

Masters Men - TSS

Premier League Men - TSS

Premier League Women & Open Men’s - Emmanuel College

Masters Women - Talle Rec Centre

Open Women’s - Talle Rec Centre

We have 2 stadiums available on Sunday afternoons for extra competitions.

Talle Rec Centre and Somerset College from 12pm – 5pm.

Once everyone nominates for the new season we will decide on whether we will run these venues on a Sunday.

We understand that these options will not suit everyone. The new competition will be as follows -

Monday nights - Mixed Social will have designated time slots at 6pm – but this will be over 3 venues TSS, Emmanuel College and Somerset College – game times – 6pm, 6.50, 7.40, 8.30, 9.20

Tuesday Night Masters Men’s – TSS - game times -  6pm, 6.45, 7.30

Wednesday night Masters Women’s, Open Women – Tallebudgera Leisure Centre game times - 6pm, 6.45, 7.30, 8.15.

Open Men – Emmanuel College - game times - 6pm, 6.45, 7.30, 8.15.

There are a lot of teams that play multiple times over the week, please understand that you may not be able to do this as I will be trying to fit in as many teams as possible, when nominating, please check with your team members as to what would be your preferred competition and then you can nominate a second night if the competition is not full.

Currently we have 192 teams playing over 4 nights – I will not be able to fit all these teams into 3 nights.

Email for a nomination form -

Remember to lodge your team nomination form asap – team nomination payments will be taken once all teams have been accepted into the new competition – you will be notified by email by Friday 19th January 2018.

Failure to pay your team nomination by the due date will result in your team being removed and the next team on the waiting list being added.

We thank you in advance for your understanding over what will be a testing time for all.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
