TEAM AWARDS

BBI again recognized select players from each team for their impact and contribution to the Brisbane Capitals over the season. These awards are tied to the Brisbane Capitals performance program expectation that all players improve in one of more of the following areas that relate to positive youth development (Competence, Confidence, Connectedness and Character).

The Best “Team Player” Award (Connectedness/Character) This award acknowledges the player who best reflects the values and characteristics of the Brisbane Capitals program. These players are punctual, put in extra training and work away from the practice and game environment, are willing to help team managers and coaching staff in off court duties, able to take responsibility for actions, encourage team mates and works well with all players and staff whilst performing/contributing/impacting on the court for the team. "The player in the team, that their teammates and staff want to play/work with". That player who consistently has sacrificed for their team on the court and at practice. This is an award for attitude, respect, coach-ability, responsibility, positive influence on team, communication and humility while balancing this with competitive ability on the court.

The Commitment to Excellence Award (Competence/Confidence) This award is performance based in competition and at practice and is awarded to the player who focuses on getting better each time they take the court – committing to their improvement of each task. Worthy players for this award have consistently exceeded the coaching staff’s expectations of performance. Again, this award acknowledges players who put in the work on their game away from the practice/game environment and are diligent with the detail of mastering the game of basketball including commitment to performance enhancement such as mental and physical skills.
