TJ CALLS MACKAY HOME FOR ANOTHER SEASON
The 2016 Mcdonald’s Mackay Meteors most valuable player has signed to play for the team again for the 2017 season. TJ Diop, who had an impressive year at the power forward position last year has strengthened Mackay’s front court after agreeing to a further year with the Meteors.
TJ was extremely excited about the prospect of playing and being coached by Cameron Tragardh and believes the two can form a formidable front court combination that can cause other teams in the competition some match up problems.
“I have really enjoyed my time playing for Mackay and love playing in front of the Mackay public with the great support that they give us week in, week out. I think we can build on our season last year and I know each and every one of the players want to ensure that we are in the mix come finals time”, Diop said.
We need to get to work in the off season and make sure we are ready to go in Round 1 when we go on the road to Rocky and Gladstone.
Head Coach Cameron Tragardh said “ Having TJ return again to the McDonald’s Meteors for another season is huge for this program. Tj’s athleticism causes opposition defences major match up problems and I am looking forward to working with TJ in 2017. TJ had a wonderful season last year and we are looking for him to continue that great form again this season.
Tj has arrived in Mackay and will commence training with the team immediately in preparation for the 2017 season.
