Championship Division

*** Kings ***

Roster:                 Damon Tibble, Edward Cooper, David De Wet, Jack Huggins

The Kings are totally unknown to tournament organisers, they seem like a fun group of guys who have been playing with each other for some time, it’s great to have the Kings in the competition and we are excited with what they can bring.

Prediction:          5^th

*** Willys ***

Roster:                 Jack Burdon, Rhett Bazzo, Jed Adams, Matt Hopeyates

This team could make the playoffs and if they do anything could happen, they may not have any 2001 or 2002 born players however they do boast 4 solid 2003 born players and will look to work together as a team to get the wins required. Word on the streets is that Rhett Bazzo has been training extremely well at WABL try outs and is a chance at the 3 on 3 tournament MVP award. Head coach and team manager Will Burdon is saying that Rhett needs to keep his mind on winning the tournament and not the individual accolades.

Prediction:          8^th

 

*** Sink City ***

Roster:                 Joseph Shackleton, Austin Lamb, Angus Wylie, Harry Broad

Another unknown team who we are sure will add a spark to the tournament, can Sink City sink the competition and make Mandurah theres? We can’t wait to find out and have put them down as favourites to win the championship division due to their depth, confidence and creative name.

Prediction:          1^st

*** Beasts ***

Roster: Eliesha Coles, Shayne Fuentes, Ami Le Gresley, Hans Gabriel Alarcon

This is the only mixed team in the championship division, when told that the female only league was not going ahead they were offered a wildcard spot and they accepted immediately, they didn’t need time to think about it and this team should be feared by all. Their team name makes their intentions very clear and with all players 2001 born they will be the oldest team in the league and command respect as a legitimate chance of causing a boil over. The Beasts are lead by their fearless and brave leader Eliesha Coles who has rallied the troops to form an exciting challenge to the 2016 3 on 3 comp.

Prediction:          6^th

*** Ease Up Turbo ***

Roster:                 Coustea Kyle, Charles Foss, Julian Smith

This team is a lot of peoples tip to win the inaugural 3 on 3 championship, they have great talent and size. If Coustea Kyle provides great leadership, Charles Foss owns the paint and birthday boy Julian Smith is able to defend bigger guards and knock down open shots they will be tough to stop and could be walking home with the trophy however in 3 on 3 we all know anything can happen.

Prediction:          4^th

*** Toon Squad ***

Roster:                 Jahrece White, Michael Chan, Jeremy Caratti

The Toon Squad is back, last time they played Michael Jordan dunked it on the buzzer to beat the Monstars, we haven’t seen this team play since the 90’s so we aren’t 100% sure of what we should expect here, has Daffy Duck changed his name to Jahrece? Will Tweetie bird be in attendance?

In all seriousness this teams has a legitimate chance, if Jahrece White is attacking off the dribble, Michael Chan is hitting his shots and teenage sensation Jeremy Caratti can live up to the hype they will need to clear some space in their trophy cabinets.

Prediction:          3^rd

*** MCC Squad ***

Roster:                                 Darren Beard, Harrison Klasztorny, Jaxon Holmes

MCC Squad have great versatility in their starting 3, with a line up that can score from the perimeter, guard bigs and smalls and use their MCC connection to create team harmony. Rumour has it that Harrison Klasztorny has been working very hard on his game and is ready to start 2016 with a bang.

The question mark on this team is if they can guard low post players, if this team gets it all right on the day they could go home as champions.

Prediction:          2^nd

*** Southside Allstars ***

Roster:                 Enrique Aiken – Featherstone, Bruno Faulkner, Braiden Quartermaine, Ryan Harp

This team seems very organised and focused, they had their form in early and appear ready to take on whoever dares to come in their way, if the Southside Allstars qualify for the top 6 anything could happen.

Prediction:          7^th

 

 

***Redbacks ***

Roster:                 Travis Wightman, Hubert Chu, Pierce Blackburn, Patrick Fernandes de Viana

The Redbacks are a solid unit, Travis Wightman and Patrick Fernandes de Viana has been doing extra training sessions to ensure they are ready and if Pierce Blackburn (2015 WABL Coaches Award recipient) is at his damaging best and point guard Hubert Chu can get his team mates involved on offence and be disruptive on defence they will surprise a lot of people.

Hadley Wightman is the team manger and it looks like she has built a team perfect for 3 on 3 style basketball with a mobile unit that has enough speed to cause taller teams problems, enough size to match the teams who have post players and one of the best point guards in the competition.

We have predicted the Redbacks to finish 9^th in the championship division but we could be wrong!

Prediction:          9^th

 

Shield Division

*** Ankle Breakers ***

Roster:                 Noah Townsend, Brayden Irvine, Paddy Carter, Rory Carter

This team is predicted to finish 2^nd, their depth and team unity might just be able to make it work, this team could surprise a few people on the day. Teams playing against these guys will need to have a bucket of ice ready to treat their broken ankles.

The players on this team have not been spotted around Mandurah lately which is adding to the rumours that they have been running off site training sessions for this 3 on 3 tournament.

Prediction:          2^nd

*** Small Ball ***

Roster:                 Dylan Srdarev, Harry Hewitt, Adam

This small ball line up is the youngest team in the league, they have chosen to play three guards and punish teams with dribble penetration and outside shooting. The weakness of this team is their lack of size, who will guard Brayden Irvine, who will guard Smiley Slattery? I am sure we will find out on the day!

We are interested in seeing if this team work out and predict them to finish 5^th in the shield.

*** Destroyers ***

Roster:                 Jordan Fletcher, Kaleb Pascoe, Riley Parker

The Destroyers are tipped to win the shield division, they have a very strong roster and rumour has it they are planning on going through the tournament undefeated.

If the Destroyers get too confident they could become complacent and drop their guard, there are many good teams in this competition and anybody could win it on the day.

Prediction:          1^st

*** Makybe Lions ***

Roster:                 Talon Williams, Riley Maro, Josh Draper

The Makybe Lions were the first team to register in this competition, have they been training together waiting for this opportunity to arise? Who are these Lions? Do they have the firepower to win the Shield?

Prediction:          6^th

*** Boomers ***

Roster:                 Jarhmayne Ugle, Renee Anderson, Smiley Slattery

The Boomers are one of those teams that could get hot and win it all or could struggle through the tournament, Smiley Slattery has been working extremely hard in the lead up to this tournament, he has been seen at Halls Head Recreation Centre 7 days in a row (5 days at Mandurah Basketballs famous school holiday camp and 2 days at WABL try outs), Smiley is in hot form and could carry this team, this guy doesn’t get a lift to training HE RUNS across town to get there! Jarhmayne Ugle has also been seen at the MBA holiday camp where he walked away with trophies from his strong showing and showed that he is one of the best drive and dish guards in the Peel region.

This team poses a huge threat to the competition and definitely could take the title!

Prediction:          3^rd

*** Pajakas ***

Roster:                 Jaide Britton, Paige Thomas, Kaylee Wicks, Jasmine

The Pajakas certainly have the strangest name in the competition, a quick google search from the commissioner of the tournament yielded no results! On further investigation we have found the meaning to this strange name Pajakas = PAige, JAide/Jasmine, KAyleeS. Whilst their team name might be humorous their chance at winning the shield division is not, the Pajakas come in with a powerful roster of well known WABL players who definitely have a chance to make some noise on Saturday. When advised of their 4^th placed ranking the team replied to say that they are unhappy and that they feel underestimated, the Pajakas can talk the talk, lets see if they can walk the walk....

Prediction:          4^th

 

*** Lightening Snails ***

Roster:                 Leah Tapper, Skye Forward, Alyssa Nixon, Kloe Phillip – Jones

Lightening Snails have put together a roster of four Mandurah Magic WABL players including Mandurah Magic 2015 team MVP Skye Forward who will look to lead her team to victory as she has done so many times before.

We have predicted the Snails to finish 7^th but we could be completely wrong with this one especially given all the talent and the fact that this group fell one game short of a WABL championship only 3 months ago.

Prediction:          7^th

 

*** Raiders ***

Roster:                 Asha, Sewell, Elliana McCoy, Angelina Dimasi, Georgia Conlan

The Raiders have put together a team who have played with each other before and come with their own uniforms and team work, we have ranked this team 8^th purely because we don’t know them as well as the others.

Can the Raiders surprise us and get the W?

Prediction:          8^th
