Josh Oswald wins 2010 Charles Ryan Award
Basketball Victoria would like to congratulate Josh Oswald in being awarded the Charles Ryan Award for 2010.
Marked on an individual’s dedication and commitment to improving their basketball game, Josh has demonstrated remarkable improvement in this past year. Playing with and living in Werribee, Josh’s attendance and devotion to improving his game at NITP’s Central venue could not be faulted. Adding to this, as an emergency for the Vic Metro U18 State Team, Josh’s commitment to trainings and practice games has been exceptional. For the past two years, Josh has also scheduled weekly sessions working on his strength and agility with Durham McInnis.
Successfully representing Victoria Metropolitan at the Under 16 National Championships in 2009, Josh enjoyed a very good tournament. Playing as a bottom aged athlete, Josh represented Vic Metro’s NITP at the 2010 East Coast Challenge before being selected as an emergency for the U18 State Team.
Experiencing an outstanding VC season with the Werribee Devils, through the NITP, Josh was invited to the first national camp in preparation for 2013’s U19’s Australian Team. Performing well at the June camp, Josh retained his position in the squad for the September Camp.
Always listening to his coaches it is pleasing to see him further developing. Often first on to the floor volunteering to demonstrate the next drill, he is easy to notice as it is clearly apparent he wants to better his game.
To date, Josh has experienced some success and recognition and has been recently presented with the Charles Ryan Award due to his dedication and commitment to hard work. It is this work ethic that will provide him many opportunities in the years ahead.
On behalf of Basketball Victoria, I would like to again commend Josh for his efforts in winning this award.
