Corrimal cruise past Berkeley in Cup

Corrimal Rangers move to the next round of the Bert Bampton Cup after winning their first round match against Berkeley Sports 3 – 0 at Memorial Park Corrimal on Sunday.

Corrimal Rangers were on the attack right from the start when in the 9th minute Corrimal Rangers player Save Treneski took a shot at goal but the shot was well blocked by the opposition.

A minute later Berkeley Sports also had an opportunity to score in front of the goals with a kick by Christopher Kostovski but it missed to the left hand side of the goal.

The first goal of the match was scored by Corrimal Rangers player Luke Picciolini in the 17th minute. Corrimal Rangers were awarded a free kick and while Berkeley Sports were setting up their wall, Corrimal took a quick free kick from which they scored.

Corrimal Rangers then took the opportunity to try and score again with a long distance shot from outside the box by Paul Guido in the 20th minute of the match. Berkeley Sports goalkeeper Tyrone White attempted the save but the ball rebounded off his hands giving Save Treneski an attempt at goal but it was called offside by the assistant referee.

Corrimal Rangers had another opportunity to score when Nathan Belsito took a powerful shot in the 34th minute from the left hand side of the box but Tyrone White saved well for Berkeley Sports.

In the 41st minute, Bradley Mateer was taken off the field with an injury after a collision with Luke Picciolini and he was replaced by Matthew Hood.

Berkeley’s first attempt at goal came at the 43rd minute of the game. A pass from Jesse Gant enabled Tony Paglialunga to attempt a shot at goal but he blasted wide.

The whistle blew at half time with Corrimal Rangers in the lead 1 – 0 over Berkeley Sports.

Corrimal had dominated the first half of the game with Christian Plakias and Luke Picciolini being the key to Corrimal’s attack, whilst Berkeley had limited chances.

The second half had just kicked off when in the 48th minute a cross in by Corrimal Ranger’s Nathan Belsito to Mark Picciolini allowed him to score by putting the ball pass the keeper and into the net from close range.

The score was now Corrimal Rangers 2 – Berkeley Sports 0.

Berkeley Sports had a chance to score in the 52nd minute from a corner to Jesse Gant which allowed Tony Paglialunga to have a shot at goal from the far left side of the box but it was unsuccessful.

Two more chances went Corrimal Rangers way but they also ended up being unsuccessful.

A substitution for Berkeley Sports took place in 62nd minute when Gary Jorge went off the field and was replaced by David De Oliverira.

Corrimal Rangers had a chance to make it 3-0 in the 65th minute but the shot by Paul Guido went over the goals.

Two minutes later Corrimal Rangers were able to score as a result of a good set up and cross in by Lorri Mandredi to Chris Stevanovski who put the ball in the back of the net.

Corrimal Rangers dominated Berkeley for most of the match giving Berkeley only limited chances to score.

The final score at full time - Corrimal Rangers 3 - Berkeley Sports 0.
